Mark Liebman, Founder and CEO

Mark, Pictopia's founder and CEO, was also the founder and CEO of Vividata, Inc., founded in 1988. Over the years Vividata has created and licensed image processing, scanning, OCR and printing software and drivers to such customers as the U.S. Department of Defense, Sun Microsystems, Lockheed Martin, and Disney. As their first CTO, Mark also helped found Surf Communications/Tunes.com, the Internet's first and most extensive music store. In 26 years of hardware and software engineering he has worked on 2D and 3D graphics and animation, broadcast video editing, the science and application of the psychophysics of human vision and color, scientific visualization software for oil exploration, and ASIC implementations of signal and image processing and rendering.

 

 

Doug Halperin, President

Doug has extensive experience in e-commerce and image management. His previous positions include: President of ResExpress, a Web-based travel reservation system; VP of Sales and Marketing at Capital Technologies; VP of Engineering and other management roles at WESCO, a leading provider of the Electronic Document Management services to Fortune 500 companies. Halperin's leadership was instrumental in WESCO's 1996 acquisition by IKON Office Solutions, and the ResExpress acquisition by Design Hotels in 2000. He earned his B.S. in Mathematics and M.S. in Computer Science from Brown University and is an adjunct member of the faculty of the City College of San Francisco.

 

 

Joel Miller, VP Business Development & Content

Joel has over 15 years of experience in the film and photography business. His experience is in both post production and image licensing. He is the former Director of Associated Press/Wide World Photos, and was General Manager for The Image Bank, a worldwide still photography and film licensing company. He has successfully established and managed still photography businesses, hired and trained sales personnel, and implemented internal development and sales system procedures.

 

 

 

Phil Polishuk, VP Partner Services

Phil has extensive experience in the photo industry as well as partner relations and business development.  Prior to Pictopia, Phil was at Brightroom where he managed all large private label accounts and the development and launch of Backprint, a web storefront and fulfillment service for professional photographers of any size.  Before Brightroom Phil had roles of increasing responsibility in business development, corporate strategy and management consulting at Elan Pharmaceuticals, Dynavax Technologies and Gemini Consulting (now Cap Gemini Ernst and Young).  Phil has an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley and a BA in Economics and Biology from Wesleyan University.

 

 

 

James Cacciatore, Production Manager

James has been in the imaging business for 23 years. Before becoming the Production Manager at Pictopia he was Operations Manager and Production Manager of a 10 million dollar a year company, where he coordinated 34 employees in 5 departments. As a master photographic printer James produced exhibition prints for Richard Misrach, Baron Wolman, and Galen Rowell among others. James earned a BA in Liberal Arts from San Diego State University.
